In order to display the extremely valuable contents of the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, a replica of the original pyramid was created to best organize them and reinstall them in their original (or as similar as possible) setting. The museum tour follows the same order as the one in which archaeologists discovered the tomb and the wonders it contained: jewellery made using a particularly meticulous technique (among the most beautiful in pre-Columbian America), in particular the gold and turquoise earrings of the mummy; gold statues of animals; masks, precious metal sandals; and gold ornaments. This museum is truly international in stature, both in terms of the pieces on display and the quality of the exhibition and the explanations given on each piece. The museum is located in Lambayeque, about 10 km north of Chiclayo, but the site where the tomb of Señor de Sipan was found is located about 40 km east of Chiclayo.
